About the Shetland Sheepdog

The Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie, is a smart, graceful, and deeply loyal breed known for its beauty and working ability. Originally bred in the Shetland Islands to herd and protect livestock, Shelties are naturally alert, responsive, and eager to please. Their intelligence and gentle nature make them excellent family companions as well as talented competitors in obedience, agility, and herding.

Shelties are admired for their expressive faces, balanced structure, and flowing double coats. Despite their elegance, they remain active and athletic, thriving when included in family life, training, and light activity. Their sensitive, affectionate personalities help them form strong bonds with their people.

Good health and temperament are core to the breed. Responsible breeding includes screening for eye health, genetic conditions, and overall soundness to ensure long, healthy lives.
